Our Story

Desert Winds Painting was founded in 2018 by Chris Connelly with a simple goal: paint homes the way he'd want his own painted. That meant obsessive prep, premium products, and crews who treat every house like it belongs to family. The first jobs were single rooms and small exteriors around Farmington, won one referral at a time — and that word-of-mouth is still how most of our work arrives today.

From a single truck, the company has grown into two service regions — the Four Corners and the Albuquerque metro — covering thousands of square miles of New Mexico and southwestern Colorado. Along the way we've finished 2,000+ homes and earned a 4.8-star average across 200+ reviews. We've painted through Farmington's brutal summers and freeze-thaw winters, Albuquerque's UV-soaked Northeast Heights, and Durango's mountain weather. The climates here are punishing: high-desert sun, monsoon rains, and freezing winters strip finishes that were never prepped or specified for the high desert. So the work has to be tougher than the weather.

That's why our process starts long before a brush touches a wall. We wash, patch, sand, caulk, and prime, then specify Sherwin-Williams coatings matched to the surface and the exposure — not whatever's cheapest that week. Interiors get masked and protected like someone still lives there, because someone does. Exteriors get finishes rated for UV and monsoon swings. Cabinets get a spray-grade finish that holds up to daily kitchen use.

Today we run multiple crews with project consultants who help homeowners scope and price work honestly, and project managers who run each job day to day so you always know who to call. We're locally owned, fully insured, BBB accredited with an A+ rating, and every project is backed by our up to 10-year written workmanship warranty.
